Recycled Items
Recycled items are a great way to reduce waste. These items can be repurposed into new products and the process of making these items requires less energy and resources than making them from raw materials. Recycled products also have lower carbon emissions, which is great for the environment. It is important to understand that not all products are made of recycled materials. Check for labels that indicate the amount of recycled materials used in the product you are buying it.

All-day materials such as plastic aluminum, paper and paper can be recycled into a variety of items. The most commonly used are tubs and bottles (with lids and caps) and paper cartons such as soup, juice, milk and broth, and tin and steel cans. It is recommended to wash these containers and get rid of any food particles prior to recycling them.
We also recycle textiles such as shirts, pants, and blankets. These are not as common, but they can be turned into new products with a modest investment. There are local thrift stores and malls offer recycling bins for these items and some companies offer to buy used clothing. Other things, such as ceramic plates and mugs are repurposed by local artists to create unique gifts.
The process of recycling faces numerous challenges, including contamination. When recyclables and non-recyclables are mixed, they become less valuable or are not usable. Education and better sorting methods are the key to tackling contamination.
A growing number of manufacturers offer a broader selection of items made from recycled materials. It is essential to purchase these products whenever you can, as they can help support the recycling industry. Certain of these products are sold at major retailers, while others can be found online. In addition, a lot of these items are made with Cradle to Cradle certification standards that can be verified by searching online. These standards are designed to ensure that a product is safe for the environment and the user.
