Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the necessary material or component needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across several items.
This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base. For example, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.
To measure the height of a structure engineers use a level to compare the measurement to an established reference point, like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to an extremely high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be handled with care.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrade item s were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This could be a positive or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also comes with number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a character without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in various ways. They can be of different sizes, contain no elements, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.

There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own many weapons or armor pieces already.
Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their unique procs, which can be particularly useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
