World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
Item upgrade allows players to raise the item level of equippable weapons and armor. This improves the stats and sometimes adds buffs or rerolls to an affix.
It is important to note that while you can upgrade magic and common equipment, it is generally not worth the effort. Rare and unique gear will quickly outclass upgraded magic and common gear.
Cost
When a player decides to upgrade an item, they must pay Gold for the upgrade. The cost of upgrading an item depends on its current level and the upgrade type chosen. Upgrades to weapons are typically cheaper than upgrades for armor, since weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold required for upgrading an item increases as the item is upgraded.
The upgraded items will also have improved stats that can improve its performance in different ways. This includes increasing its attack power, critical strike chance, or damage per second. In addition an upgraded item might be able to offer additional buffs to the unit it is equipped with. These upgrades can be used for a variety of reasons such as to increase the overall power of a particular or group unit. They also can be a significant influence on gameplay.
Any NPC that upgrades items can be located in the game. These NPCs are located in major questing areas or capital cities. You can also find upgraders of items in dungeons that feature high-level bosses, and speaking to NPCs in garrisons of your faction.
The system of upgrading items in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the levels of armor, weapons, and trinkets. This process is largely identical to the process used for gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the appropriate currency, players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.

Requirements

A player can turn an item into a different upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button an arrow for reroll. This will change the layout and allow players to select up to six items for "recycling". The item will be replaced with one of the level 1 items. Rerolled items won't retain their status or the amount of resources needed to upgrade them.
An item's maximum upgrade level is determined by its tier and quality. Common items can be upgraded to an maximum of level six, while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels nine. The upgrade of an item is added to its base statistics. This means that they won't grow further after a certain level.
